A rally dedicated to the 77th anniversary of the liberation of Mariupol from the Nazi invaders has been held in Levoberezhny district of Mariupol near "Pushka" monument. Mayor Vadym Boichenko appreciated for the courage and resilience during the liberation of the city and during the years of its restoration. The creative teams of the city prepared bright performances and a field kitchen was located on the alley.
“Your heroic acts are not forgotten. You are our example and source of inspiration. We remember the exploits and heroism of our grandfathers and develop our city as a token of gratitude. Because Mariupol is a city by the sea, in which it should be comfortable and safe to live ",

The meeting traditionally ended with the laying of flowers at the foot of the monument.
Viktor Dekalyuk was among the rally participants. The citizen of Mariupol has more than ten awards for courage and fortitude. Victor Yurievich was born in Lviv. In 1941, his father went to the front. Together with his mother and brothers he ended up in the Dachau concentration camp. Only in 1960 he was able to find his two brothers. Now Viktor Dekalyuk is the chairman of the regional society of prisoners and victims of Nazism.
“From the concentration camp, we and about 200 other people were bought by Polenske company from Munich, for three Reich marks per person. There we were sent to forced labor. In 1945, American soldiers liberated. After the counterintelligence organization, my mother and I were sent home. Later we moved to Mariupol. During the years I lived in the city, I personally saw the whole history of its post-war development. There were different stages. Now it is clear that Mariupol is being updated and it becomes modern. I am glad that the grandchildren will live in such a city, ” Viktor Yurievich said.
