The Mayor noted that in connection with the growth of the market price for gas by almost 300%, there is a danger of an increase in tariffs for the population by 70-80%. According to him, this is an unaffordable financial resource for the majority of the population.

Vadym Boichenko reminded that this winter they managed to ensure that the government did not allow an increase in the tariff for gas and its transportation for the Heating Network. Now there is a new challenge.

‘Now the population's debt is UAH 400 million. If Mariupol residents cannot always pay at the present moment, then what will happen if the tariff increases? The state should set gas prices depending on the population's ability to pay. It is necessary to use all tools to prevent an explosive growth of tariffs for people,’ the Mayor stressed.

He noted that the decrease in the number of Mariupol residents who receive subsidies and their delay since May is also a problem. The Mayor set a task for profile leaders to develop a clear and understandable action plan within a week on how to reduce the increase in tariffs for Mariupol families.

Vadym Boichenko also criticized the bill 3508-d the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada must vote for.  The document should define a mechanism for writing off gas debts. Restructuring is proposed instead.
