Steelworkers are the part of our big Mariupol family: Vadym Boichenko greets the workers of Illych Iron and Steel Works

Mayor Vadym Boichenko has congratulated the workers of Ilyich Iron and Steel Works on the upcoming Day of the Steelworker and Miner. He visited several workshops and presented awards and commendations to the best employees. The events were held taking into account all quarantine restrictions.

‘Steelworkers are part of our large Mariupol family. Today you are forging the glory of our city and country. Each of you is part of the changes in our city. Each project is your contribution. Our task is to create conditions for you and your families to have a comfortable rest, so that you feel comfort and see the result of your work,’
the Mayor turned to the workers of the iron and steel works.

Taras Shevchenko, General Director of Ilyich Iron and Steel Works, added that metallurgy has been and will be the base and basis of the economy of any country.

‘There will be no digital technology and there will be no development without iron. We are improving, developing, keeping pace with the development of the world of metallurgy,’ he stressed.

Vadym Boichenko presented the best metallurgists with gratitude from the Prime Minister of Ukraine, the Mayor of Mariupol, diplomas from the Donetsk Regional State Administration.

Lyudmila Cherniy received the Order of Princess Olga III degree from the Mayor. The woman has been working as a sinter plant dispatcher for 35 years. ‘I did not expect. This is a huge surprise and honor for me. It is very pleasant when your work is appreciated,’ Lyudmila said.

Senior Roller Yevgeny Yefremov was awarded with gratitude from the Mayor. Immediately after college, he came to the plant. He has been working in the "1700" mill for 14 years. He was one of those who mastered new equipment after the modernization of the mill.
