Mayor Vadym Boichenko opposed Mariupolgaz's initiative to sharply increase the cost of natural gas transportation. A corresponding letter was sent to the National Commission for State Regulation in the Spheres of Energy and Utilities (NEURCU). The Mayor announced  it at a regular session of the Mariupol City Council.

“There is an initiative of Mariupolgaz to increase the cost of transportation. Why? Because they consider their damage at the market price. We declared Mariupol against the idea of increasing gas distribution. For our city, this is damage in the amount of UAH 320 million, which we can direct to the development of the city and social programs, ” Vadym Boichenko stressed.

The Mayor recalled that Mariupol managed to conclude a three-year contract with NJSC Naftogaz with a fixed price for natural gas for the population - UAH 7,420 per thousand cubic meters.

It was possible to fix a social tariff for Mariupol residents and a preferential one for the social sphere due to the tough position of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. For the first time in the history of our country, all the cheap gas produced in Ukraine was given to the needs of the population.

In addition, at the initiative of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as financial support, the cities will receive an increase in income from personal income tax by 4%.
