A seminar of Bussines France agency is taking place in Paris with the participation of the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Dmytro Kuleba. Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boichenko spoke in the panel discussion ‘Infrastructure and Urban Development’.
The seminar is dedicated to promoting the opportunities offered by the Ukrainian economy. About 150 participants of companies and various institutions gather at the event annually. It involves two sessions - a discussion of the economic and political situation in Ukraine, as well as individual meetings between organizations and various experts who worked in our country.
During his speech, Vadym Boichenko noted that Mariupol is actively cooperating with international partners. Confirmation of this – EUR 160 million of investments raised over three years. The funds will be used to implement a project to improve the water supply of Mariupol. More than EUR 30 million will be spent on the acquisition of 136 units of municipal transport and the reconstruction of the depot. They also plan to build a solid waste landfill with a sorting line. Another EUR 11 million will be invested in replacing outdoor lighting networks throughout the city.
The Mayor added that Mariupol and France are united by strong cooperation. He appreciated the French partners for their active participation in the cultural and infrastructural changes of the city.
‘The Days of France, dedicated to the Bastille Day, are running in Mariupol, races within the framework of the Ukrainian-French partnership. Due to you, we will solve the long-standing problem of the city - residents will receive quality water directly from the tap. In cooperation with La Rochelle and Bordeaux, a modern promenade will appear in Mariupol. This is only part of our joint projects and everyone in the center of attention is the residents of Mariupol,’ the Mayor emphasized.
In his speech, Vadym Boichenko said that cooperation with international partners was made possible due to three key aspects: the openness of the municipality, the effective management of the city budget and the Development Strategy.
‘That rapid development path that we are going through is the so-called ‘Mariupol effect’. We do not stop there. Our plans are to create a modern water park, an amusement park, develop renewable energy and build new housing. Mariupol is open for cooperation,' the Mayor summed up.
