Mariupol has plunged into the festival atmosphere for 6 days. From April 26 to May 1, the city hosted the large-scale festival of contemporary art ‘Startup GogolFest’. Theatrical performances of Ukrainian and European directors, film screenings, lectures, performances of famous musical performers were held daily at various locations. The festival was attended by over 35 000 people.
‘GogolFest’ has been held in Mariupol for the second year. The program was even brighter and richer. The events were designed for both children and adults. The main locations of ‘GogolFest’ were Molodezhniy Palace of Culture, the City Garden, the creative space Vezha and the former Azovstal Yacht Club. But you could also see the performances in an ordinary school and listen to lectures in the street. On the territory of the Azov Ship-Repairing Yard, a unique opera Νερό was staged.
The spectators could see the setting of the bulling from the German theater ‘Junges Deutsches’, the updated interpretation of the ancient Greek play Euripides ‘The Bacchae’ by the famous Ukrainian director Dmitriy Kostyuminskiy, they could participate in discussions about what the school can teach adults and visit the tour with philosopher Vano Kruger.
The musical part was held in the City Garden. There were festival headliners: ‘Dakh Daughters’, Sergey Babkin, Jamala, Bahroma, Blue Foundation, Monarchy and YUKO. In addition, the night scene worked.
Dry closets and containers were installed in the City Garden. The employees of ‘Kommunalnik’ public utility daily removed garbage. The employees of "Zelenstroy" were engaged in cleaning the adjacent territory.
According to the press service of the Central Police Department in the Donetsk region, there were no offences. Every day more than 40 law enforcement officers monitored order at locations. The participants of the festival did not apply for help to the doctors.
For the comfort of the residents and the guests of the city, there were two buses and two trolley buses between the locations of the festival. In addition, the operating time of public transport was increased.
