The president of ‘Donbass’ hockey club Boris Kolesnikov has presented a project for the construction of two ice rinks in Mariupol. One of them will be with an inflatable tent and will work in winter. The second is a large sport complex with stands for 2000 seats and its construction is planned to start by the end of 2019. The projects are financed by ‘Donbass’ hockey club.
The president of ‘Donbass’ hockey club said that the club is the strongest in Ukraine. And in 2013, for the first time in the history of Ukrainian hockey, ‘Donbass’ HC has become the owner of the Continental Cup of Europe.
‘It is a great honor for me to make all the conditions for the development of ice sports in my native city. But the construction of a large complex will take about two years. Therefore, we will go in two steps. The first is to build an air-bearing structure. There will be an ice field 60 by 30 meters. And I think that this year we will hold the first official hockey match in the history of our city,’ Boris Kolesnikov said.
The construction of the ‘ice mirror’ for 200 seats with a full-fledged playing field is planned in July and it will have been completed by the New Year. It will work from October to May.
The stationary complex for 2 thousand seats is planned to be built at the end of 2019. There will be 10 dressing rooms, a fitness center, a hall for choreography, a gym and a cafe. Both hockey players and figure skating athletes will be trained here. There will be more than 10 groups and about 25 trainers.
The places for the construction of ice fields will be determined in the near future. The main criteria for choosing a place, according to the president of the club, is the availability of public transport to them. The construction and further maintenance is financed by ‘Donbass’ HC. The city allocates land for the construction and brings the engineering networks.
