President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelenskiy has opened the concert of the Free Mariupol festival dedicated to the fifth anniversary of the liberation of the city from illegal armed groups. Together with him, the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, the head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Alexander Kuts and the mayor Vadim Boichenko took the stage.
Vladimir Zelenskiy noted that he was pleased to be in Mariupol. He has already visited our city but as the President of Ukraine for the first time. He stressed that Mariupol is a city of great Ukrainians.
The President also recalled how everyone followed the events in Mariupol: ‘On June 13, 2014, when the flag of Ukraine appeared over the City Council, it determined fundamentally that this is our city, our favorite Ukrainian city’.
During the greeting, the President of Ukraine announced a minute of silence on those who died defending the country.
During the congratulations, Vladimir Zelenskiy touched on important infrastructure issues. He knows that Mariupol needs the airport and the road. He assured to do everything possible.
According to him, he came to Mariupol with a surprise. After that, he invited ‘Studio Quarter 95’ team to the stage.
At the festival, the President of Ukraine looked at the renewed Theater Square, festive locations, the European fountain and talked with Mariupol residents.
