City council deputies discuss the draft budget of Mariupol for 2021. Mayor Vadym Boichenko, the budget is a tool for achieving the goals of the Strategy 2021. The document is balanced and reflects the needs of all areas of development.
“The strategy has become a roadmap for the development of Mariupol, laid the vision of the future of our city. We have defined a clear goal - to become a showcase of the restored Donbass. To achieve it, 14 goals and more than 70 target performance indicators have been formulated. We were implementing these goals in relation to the city budget, ” the Mayor approved.
Vadym Boichenko notes that the Strategy is based on sociological research of consumers. The residents of Mariupol have identified the key directions of the city's development. It is predicted that by 2021 the implementation will be at the level of 90%. This indicator speaks about the effectiveness of the decisions made.
“Based on requests from residents, we correctly formulated key goals and, due to well-coordinated work, effectively managed the budget for five years. As a result, the city has become a leader in transparency and openness. It will get EUR 160 million of European investments, ”the Mayor said.
Already in 2021, it is planned to create a communal laboratory center, complete the first stage of reconstruction of the Left Bank Beach and the Center for SMBs as a tool for the development of entrepreneurship. The next key goal is to formulate the City Development Strategy until 2030. It will be based on projects, the implementation of them has already started. This is a water supply project for Mariupol. Its completion at the end of 2024 and residents of the city will receive clean drinking water directly from the tap. The next initiative is the reconstruction of the coastline. After the Left Bank beach, Peschanka and Central Beach are next in line.
“These are the challenges that will translate into the new strategy, as they are the key projects identified by the residents of the city. It is important for us to continue our development with the same pace and dynamics that we had in the previous five years. All initiatives can be implemented only in relation to the budget, ” Vadym Boichenko said in conclusion.
