Mariupol has joined the global action "16 days against violence". It draws people's attention to the problem of violence, regardless of gender, age, race or social status. Laser palms lit up in Freedom Square, a symbol of support. They can be seen every day at 5 p.m. In addition, the city is implementing a social awareness program. Secretary of Mariupol City Council Ksenia Sukhova spoke in more detail about the support for victims of violence.

"Our goal is zero tolerance for this shameful phenomenon. Large-scale works are being carried out in this direction in Mariupol. A shelter for victims of violence and a Day Center are open, where you can get legal or any other support. Cooperation with the police has been established. There is a mobile team of social and psychological assistance. Statistics show that citizens' trust in the police and social services has increased. They feel real support and receive the necessary protection. Therefore, they are not afraid to tell about their offenders, without concealing the facts of violence, ”Ksenia Sukhova said.

The action is held annually since 1991. The international community supports the 16 Days Against Violence campaign. Citizens and organizations from more than 100 countries are stepping up their efforts from November 25 to December 10 for one purpose: to raise awareness of forms of violence and to create a safe space.

"The police will always come to the rescue. For this purpose the round-the-clock group "Polina" works. It is addressing the challenges of violence. At any time, you can call the round-the-clock line "102", - said Deputy Chief of the Central Police Department Igor Shmelkov.

If the abuser is close to the victim, you can contact social support through online communication. For example Chat bot #ActionAgainstViolence in Telegrams (@police_helpbot).

"The orange color that illuminates houses and streets in many cities around the world means - disagreement with violence in society, the fight against it and the beginning of a new bright life," UN specialist for peace restoration and development Olha Tsuprikova said.
