Vadym Boichenko shared his experience in the development of utility companies in Kyiv

Utility companies of Mariupol moved from the unprofitable category to subsidized one in two years. Today they sustain themselves. Vadym Boichenko told about how he managed to reform the communal sphere of the city at the annual Conference for Effective Governance in Kyiv.

At the beginning of 2016, citizens identified a serious problem in the work of utility services of the city. But, it was necessary to create a base before requiring a result from companies. Within a year and a half 222 units of equipment were purchased, working conditions were changed and employees were motivated. The total investment amounted to 398 million UAH
the Mayor told, adding that the average salary of employees increased to 7.5 thousand UAH.

As for the development of each utility company, Vadym Boichenko noted, that in addition to modernization of existing utility companies, a new ‘Mariupolavtodor’ was created in the city. The scope of its activities includes repair works of roads, public transport stops and drainage system. Since its creation, 71 units of equipment have been purchased for the enterprise this summer. Investments amounted to 55 million UAH. Today, ‘Mariupolavtodor’ has repaired more than 7 thousand km2 and 800 thousand km2 of road topping, which is on the books of the company.
