Today in Kiev, the fourth annual Conference on Democratic Governance: committed to transparency has started. The organizer of the event is an International Republican Institute (IRI). A two-day conference is attended by  Mayor of Mariupol Vadim Boichenko.

The conference participants will be able to discuss the main trends in the field of municipal government in Ukraine. They will also receive the results of the annual ranking of Ukrainian cities and the municipal survey. The survey reflects the views of more than 19,000 Ukrainians who were interviewed in all 24 regional centers of Ukraine as well as in Mariupol and Severodonetsk.

Vadim Boichenko has emphasized the value of sociological research. In his opinion, it helps cities to choose the direction of development.

This is the road map we rely on taking a decision. After all, the research is people’s opinion and they tell us what they are concerned over and what we have to work at even more effectively
the Mayor of Mariupol admitted

In addition, the city heads and the government officials will share their own challenges, tasks and experiences in the field of municipal government. They will have an opportunity to identify prospective ways of problem solutions the local governments have to regulate in Ukraine.
