‘Mariupol Tram and Trolleybus Administration’ utility company was completed with 83 units of new transport for a total amount of 203 million UAH for two years. These are buses, trolleybuses and trams, most of which are designed to the needs of people with disabilities. It was stated by Vitaliy Donev, the Director of ‘Mariupol Tram and Trolleybus Administration’ utility company, during the session of the City Council.
According to Vitaliy Donev, the company carries about 78 million people per year, 55 million of whom are welfare beneficiaries. The passenger transport fleet consists of 176 units riding over 40 city routes. There is a workforce of 1,379 people in the Administration.
There are new routes in addition to new transport. The old bus stop pavilions are replaced with modern ones equipped with electronic displays with schedules of trolleybus, buses and route taxies. The working conditions of MTTA employees are also improving. In addition, the company began to carry out major repairs of rolling stock. Reconstructed trolleybuses and trams have already come to the city routes.
Vadym Boichenko, the Mayor, stressed that transport of Mariupol should be further developed in order to change the ratio of private and municipal transport.
