The expert of the one of the biggest German bank made sure himself personally that Mariupol is a safe city

Roy Bergeld, the security expert of KfW German bank, came to Mariupol in the course of business trip. He has being analyzed the situation in the city for three days and summed up the results of his trip at the meeting with Vadym Boichenko, the Mayor, today.

A visit of the security expert is one of the first steps in creating the partnerships between the city and the bank. According to Roy Bergelt, he traveled to Mariupol with information that hostilities were being carried out practically within the city.

“When I came here I was surprised. The information was false. It's really safe here. People are free to walk in the evening on the streets, and this is an indication that they feel secure”, - said the representative of the bank.

Vadym Boichenko noted that Mariupol became one of the safest cities in Ukraine. The colossal work at all levels had to do in order to achieve such results. According to the Mayor, one of the key roles was played by law enforcement officials.

“The innovative ‘Safe City’ project was implemented in cooperation with the National Police. Modern video surveillance cameras united into one system are installed in Mariupol within the framework of the project. As a result, the level of crime has dropped significantly”, said Vadym Boichenko, adding that the high level of safety was already noticed by European investors and several large banks.

At the end of the meeting, Roy Bergelt assured the Mayor that he would transfer all the information collected to his colleagues for further development of the partnership development strategy.
