The delegation from Slovakia, led by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Lukasz Parizek, has met with the leadership of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, Mariupol City Council and the OSCE. During the briefing they discussed the following topics: ‘Influence on security issues and social consequences of the conflict in the region’, ‘Strengthening of bilateral cooperation in social, humanitarian and educational fields with the aim of possible increase of assistance to the region from Slovakian side’.
The participants of the meeting discussed social, economic and environmental problems and threats that became the result of the armed conflict.
The head of the Donetsk regional state administration Pavel Zhebrivskiy told the audience about the situation on the whole territory of the Donetsk region. He fixed on the quality of the region's water and gas supply of a number of cities in the details and also he told about the restoration of the infrastructure of the region and its development.
The information about Mariupol was provided by the mayor Vadim Boichenko who focused on the shelling of ‘Vostochniy’ microdistrict, the townships of the city and their restoration.
He also fixed in detail the way how to change the perception of Mariupol at national and international levels. He spoke about the construction of social housing, the relocation of three universities and the problems of the city's transport interchange.
The State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Lukasz Parizek, in his speech stressed that Slovakia condemns the aggression which Ukraine opposes and expresses support, solidarity and assures that its position remains unchanged. His words were confirmed by Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Slovak Republic in Ukraine Juraj Siwachek who noted that together with the whole Europe, Slovakia is trying to help our country to survive in a difficult time.
As a humanitarian aid, a delegation from Slovakia handed over the plates with the inscription: ‘Danger! Mines!. They will be installed in the front zone along the line of demarcation.
