There is a major overhaul of non-residential buildings for social housing in Mariupol. Vadym Boichenko, the Mayor, visited one of the construction sites, checking how the reconstruction of the dormitory in Krasnomayakska Street is being carried out. This project valued at 15 million UAH is being implemented with the support of the central and city authorities. It will provide displaced persons and residents of the city with 20 flats.
The building will be taken into use already next year. According to the contractor of Mariupol, the work is conducted in accordance with the schedule. By the end of the year, they plan to complete all dismantling works, to make roofs, floors, to install windows, to conduct a heating main, and begin interior finishing since winter.
Investments into the reconstruction of the facility in Krasnomaykskaya Street comprise 15 million UAH. The state and the city divided the financial side of the issue into equal parts - by UAH 7.5 million for each.
There are major repairs in Mendeleev Street at the same time. The house is almost completely dismantled and it will be reconstructed from the ground up.
According to the Mayor, there is a sharp housing issue in Mariupol. The Mariupol family was joined by 60,000 displaced persons living in the city permanently. There are 3,000 new Mariupol residents among them in desperate need of housing, and 500 more residents are in the social queue for an apartment.
The Mayor said that that year Mariupol expected additional investments from the state in the amount of 15 million UAH in the framework of launching the pilot project. In its turn, the city is ready to allocate the same amount of funds for the purchasing of similar objects in Mariupol, in order to provide as much as possible social housing for citizens and qualified migrants.
